Thakur memorial cycle rally gets good response

LAUGHTER Riders and Runners (LRR) in association with Hospitality Professional Welfare India organised a cycle rally in memory of athlete Bharat Singh Thakur on Sunday. As many as 120 cycling enthusiasts participated in the rally. The rally started from Japanese Garden and reached Gorewada Zoo via Toll Naka Friends Colony. After a brief stop at the zoo, the cyclists returned back to end the rally at Japanese garden. All the participants were given refreshments and e-certificates. Guests for the event were Major General (Retd) CP Singh, Pradeep Chandel (Founder AHWPI), Air-Vice Marshal (Retd) Suryakant Chapekar, Kishore Thuteja (MD Lords) and Nurul Hak (Founder, LLR). The rally was flagged off by them.
 
Thakur was central India’s decorated athlete. He won three gold and seven silver medals in several competitions held in state and country. He took part in about hundred national and international races in India. Apart from main object of paying tributes to Thakur, the other objective of the rally was to involve more and more people into cycling and make Nagpur a Cycle City. On September 22, a big rally has been planned on occasion of World Car Free Day on Walkers Street. The organisers have appealed to citizens to take part in the rally in large numbers.
 
Members of LRR Anuj Mathur Adnan Hak, Manoj Lokhande, Junaid Farooqui, Amresh Kumar, Nikhil Naik, Javed Hayat, Karan Siddhu, Nalin Matija, Asim Sheikh, Pradeep Singh Chandel, Renu Kaur Sidhu, Yogita Barde, Rupal Majithia, Yogita Thoolkar, Atulkar, Binita, Archana Bongliwar worked hard to make the event a successful one.
