GLOBAL FC pumped in three goals as they went on to clinch the Independence Day 9-a-side football tournament organised by Young Muslim Football Club at YMFC ground, Mominpura. In the summit clash, Global Football Club thrashed Al Fateh FC 3-1 to clinch the title and a cash prize of Rs 11,000 along with a glittering trophy. In was Al Fateh FC who took the lead in the 12th minute of the match. However, Ashir Akhtar drew parity for Global FC in the 20th minute. Global FC then dominated the proceedings and scored two more goals. In the 36th minute, Mohd Afzal bulged the net to make it 2-1 for Global FC. Mohd Rizwan then found the back of the net in the 48th to complete the exciting win for Global FC. Sixteen teams participated in the knock-out tournament.

 

A veterans’ match was also played prior to the final in which Kamptee Legend 2 and Nagpur Legend 2 played out a 2-2 draw. Mohd Ahefaz (34th) and Mohd Atif (48th) scored for Kamptee Legend 2 while for Nagpur Legend 2 (Mohd Sabir (24th) and Kalim Ansari (56th) scored. The runners-up Al Fateh FC received a cash prize of Rs 8000 cash and a trophy. Mohammed Mateen of Al Fateh FC was declared man of the tournament. He received a trophy and track suit. Ashir Akhtar (Global FC) was declared as the match of the match. He received a track suit. Wakil Ahemad (Al Fateh FC ) was declared as the best goalkeeper.

 

Kamil Ansari, President of YMFC thanked Vikas Kumbhare for giving Rs 10 lakh for water harvesting at the ground. He also informed that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned Rs 54 lakh for the development of the ground. Dr PN Siddh (Contractor) was the chief guest of prize distribution function. Kamil Ansari was guest of honour. Mohammad Mubin, Principal Residential School, Adnan Ali, coach; Firoz Ansari, Secretary YMFC; Javed Iqbal, Athar Jamal, Ziaur Rehman, Imran Khan, Naim Ansari, Ilyas Husain, Anna Seth, Haji Wakeel, Ramzaul Haque, Fiazul Haque were also present.
