VIDARBHA players Mohit Kale and Atharva Taide looked in supreme touch as the former with a century and the latter with his all-round show fashioned their respective team’s wins in the county matches in England. Kale hammered a ton and then took two wickets as Wem Cricket Club thrashed Oswestry CC by a huge margin of 214 runs in the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Premier Division Two match at their home ground Electing to bat, Wem scored a mammoth 327-3 in 50 overs. Number three Kale (100; 69b, 17x4, 1x6), openers Sam Peate (99; 137b, 17x4) and Harry Chandler (53; 80b, 8x4) were the top contributors. Oswestry could not match the batting skills of their rivals and cave in for a paltry 113 in 32.5 over.

Bowling off-spin Kale (6-1-14-2) turned out to be pick of the Wem bowlers. In the Northern Premier Cricket League’s Division One tournament, Taide’s Lancaster Cricket Club defeated Chorley CC by eight wickets. Chorley elected to bat. Mumbai’s Siddesh Lad (58, 85b), who opened the innings, was the top scorer. He got little support form the other end as Taide (15-5-36-4) ran through the middle order with his left-arm spin. Chorley were shot out for 132 in 46.5 overs. Lancaster lost an opener early but one down Taide (69, 79b), who remained unbeaten, and Steven Fisher (17) stabilised the innings. Taide later had a good partnership with Eddie Steinson (35, 41b) as the team cruised to win scoring 135-2 in 28.5 overs. During his knock, Taide, who has been a dominant player in the squad, crossed 1000 runs in the season.
