WCR earns Rs 2 cr revenue in new goods stream

While fighting the challenges of second wave of covid-19 pandemic, Western Central Railway (WCR) attempted freight loading in four new streams of goods via Business Development Units (BDU) and earned a revenue of more than Rs 2 crore in new goods stream. WCR also earned revenue of more than Rs 50 crore in online payment of freight loading. WCR established Business Development Units (BDU) in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota divisions. The BDU consists of railway officers and traders. The traders are given attractive discounts, and facilities to convince them to transport their goods through rail transport. In June 2021, WCR loaded 17 wagons of food oil from Bundi godown of Kota division and earned revenue of Rs. 8.68 lakhs.
 
WCR loaded 27 wagons of Bajra from Gangapur city station of Kota division and earned revenue of Rs 43.95 lakhs. Two racks of red Geru powder was loaded from Sawai Madhopur station of Kota division .WCR earned revenue of Rs. 1 crore. Similarly, sand was sent from KPFP station of Bhopal division to Mangalia village of Ratlam division. WCR earned revenue of Rs 79.05 lakh. To promote digitalisation, WCR started the facility of 24*7 online payment for payment of loaded goods for traders. As a result, WCR generated revenue of more than Rs 50 crore in online payment.
