Six persons, including two women, in Raipur were arrested for allegedly duping a man on the pretext of treating his daughter’s illness through supernatural means. On the pretext of treating typhoid of Gajendra Singh Chouhan’s daughter, a resident of village Nimora under Dharsinva police station, through supernatural means, the accused identified as Sati Bai Porte (50), Angina Gond (45), Ameen Gond (34), Manoj Gond (27), J K Gond (32) and Goverdhan Prasad Nishad (32) allegedly duped the victim, said Abhanpur Station House Officer (SHO) Bodhan Sahu. The accused persons have collected Rs 8000 and one quintal rice from the victim, added the SHO. Following the complaint of Chouhan, police arrested the accused persons today and produced them in a local court from where they were sent to judicial custody, SHO Sahu said.

 

SHO further detailed that on September 12, Goverdhan Prasad Nishad took Choudhan’s wife to Nava Raipur on the pretext of performing rituals wherein other accused fraudsters were already present. The accused persons collected cash worth Rs 8000 and one quintal from the victim on the pretext of performing rituals. As the victim’s daughter did not recover, he lodged a complaint with Abhanpur police. On the victim’s complaint, police registered an offence against the accused persons under Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and started investigation, said SHO Sahu.
