21-year-old engineering student killed in road mishap

A 21-year-old engineering student was killed in a road mishap that took place at Nava Raipur turn under Mandir Hasaud police station limits on Monday. A sand-laden hyva (CG 04 JD 8795) speeding towards Raipur from Arang hit a motorcycle (CG 04 NK 4106) at Nava Raipur turn leaving Lelawati Rajwade (22), hailing from Ambikapur and studying here at a private engineering college, dead and two others injured, said Mandir Hasaud Station House Officer (SHO) Ashwani Rathore. Rajwade was in 7th semester of her Civil Engineering course, added the SHO Rathore further informed that in the mishap, Rajwade suffered very critical injuries and lost both her limbs. The victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.
 
The injured were identified as Durgesh Sahu and Kumari Ritu Sahu, informed SHO Rathore. Fearing the public wrath and police action, the accused hyva driver fled by leaving the vehicle on the spot, said SHO Rathore, elaborating that police have identified the vehicle’s owner and soon the driver will be arrested. According to information, police have registered an offence against the accused driver under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched an investigation.
