In a shocking incident, a woman and her 10-year-old daughter were brutally murdered in a farm near Kalmeshwar on Monday. The investigators are suspecting the role of an accompanying man in the brutal killings as he went absconding. The police have identified the absconding man as Rakesh alias Mohan Chandu Sahu (30), a resident of Chinchgaon, Nainpur, district - Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, on the basis of a statement given by farm owner Lalit Ganorkar. However, the identity of the deceased woman and the girl was not established so far. The police are not sure about whether the man was the husband of the woman or not. A police team was sent to Chinchgaon to collect information about the deceased persons and Sahu, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ola, adding that the woman was smothered to death while the girl was killed by smashing her head with a boulder. Ganorkar’s farm is situated near Zunki village, around six km from Kalmeshwar town.

 

The three met Ganorkar at his house in Kalmeshwar on September 22 and urged for a job. Ganorkar offered them a job of farm labourer with a temporary accommodation at the farm. On Saturday, Sahu told Ganorkar that he would leave the job before Diwali. The farm owner then replied that he needed his services for a minimum period of a year and not just for a month. Sahu then told Ganorkar that he would search for another job and urged him to allow to live at the place for two days. On Monday at 11.30 pm, when Ganorkar went to the farm, Sahu was not present in the farm. He then entered the house only to find the woman and the girl lying dead on the floor.

 

Shocked, Ganorkar alerted the police about the crime. Staff of Kalmeshwar Police Station and Local Crime Branch (LCB) rushed to the spot. SP Ola also inspected the crime scene. Prima facie, the woman was smothered to death and later the accused smashed the head of the girl with a boulder, the police official said. Sahu went absconding after committing the crime and his mobile phone was switched off. A case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Kalmeshwar Police. Further investigation is on.
