Raising of Jhipania Reservoir height brings happiness to farmers in distt

Farmers of many villages across Saja block of the district are quite happy with the raising of the height of Jhipania reservoir and remodeling work of feeder canal from stop dam in Karra River. It needs to be recalled here that earlier due to insufficient rainfall, Jhipania reservoir had not reached to its full capacity in terms of water filling for the past 20 years. Besides, construction of Jhadutola dam in Kabirdham district in the catchment area of Jhipania reservoir, had further reduced to level of water filling in Jhipania reservoir. In the wake of situation, an administrative approval of Rs 756.29 lakh was received for raising the height of Jhipania reservoir and remodeling work of f eeder canal from stop dam in Karra river.
 
The work was started in the year 2020-21 by taking immediate tender action. The work was completed within the year. The irrigation capacity has been increased from 600 hectares to 2872 hectares. Besides, the Thelka diversion will also facilitate irrigation over 320 hectares.With this development, there is a wave of happiness among the villagers and farmers of Chilfi, Benderwani, Belgaum, Karmatara, Sambalpur, Rampura, Somaikala, Somaikhurd, Bharda, Bargara, Amlidih, Gagaria, Khamaria, Gahira, Navagaon, Padkitola, Kentara, Mohtra and Janta. The benefit of irrigation facility will be available in Saja, Tendubhatha, Beltara, Thelka and Kajra.
