GREATLY peeved by the ongoing malpractices of foreign funded e-commerce companies in India, the traders across the country have joined hands together to fight out major global e-commerce through an aggressive nationwide agitational campaign from September 15 under the flag of their apex body, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). CAIT has convened a day long national conference of trade leaders of all the States of the country on September 9 at New Delhi to take stock of the current scenario in e-commerce and to carve out future strategy of the campaign. CAIT National President B C Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal jointly said that it is most unfortunate that despite having so many established policies, laws and rules and a sound administrative system in place. It is highly regretted to note that no concrete action has been taken against big e-commerce companies who are still violating the concerned rules and laws. CAIT said that it is most astonishing to see that various courts including Supreme Court have made some strong reflections on the business module of few of global companies, yet they have not been caught for violations whereas if an ordinary businessman is found on wrong side, the administrative would not take even a minute to initiate action against them.

 

These companies very well know the loopholes and they have emerged as experts for dodging the law. Why the agencies are not taking immediate steps and why these companies are being given time and leverage, the trade leaders said. The Confederation said, “CAIT has decided to launch a final agitational campaign in the form of ‘Halla Bol’ across the country. The traders of the country are fully geared up to take on the global e-commerce companies.” “We openly support the draft of e-commerce rules under the Consumer Act by the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal and the ‘Halla Bol’ campaign will raise strong voice to implement these rules without wasting any more time,” the Confederation further added.
