Addressing the two-day conference conducted by the Nagpur Chapter of the Western India Regional Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) here on Saturday, Maharashtra Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut said that company secretary plays an important role in the growth of any business enterprise. He also said that the ICSI and CS are known as governance professionals and are committed to uphold the high standards of corporate governance. The theme of the annual regional conference held at Hotel Le Meridian was “Upholding Good Governance - Excelling 360 Degree”. Dr Nitin Raut further said that the students pursuing CS course in the region are getting benefits because of the high standard syllabus of the institute.
 
“Such institutes are contributing in the nation building,” he said at the inaugural session of the flagship event that also witnessed presence Justice Vijay C Daga (Retd.) Mumbai High Court; President of ICSI C S Nagendra D Rao; Vice President ICSI CS Devendra D Deshpande; Regional Chairman CS Pawan G Chandak; Chairperson of Nagpur Chapter CS Khushboo Pasari; Chairman PCS committee CS Tushar Pahade; Secretary Reshma Mitkari; Program Director CS Deepti Joshi and others. Highlighting the contribution of CS, Justice Daga said the professionals are key element in the progress of industry. He also spoke on integrity, fairness, transparency, accountability and responsibility in the governance. CS Rao deliberated on the various initiatives taken by the ICSI for the benefit of the students and the members of the ICSI CS Despande appreciated the efforts of Nagpur chapter led by CS Khushboo Pasari and called the conference best event in the recent times.
 
CS Chandak briefed the participants about the emerging role of Company Secretaries in the Vidharba and empasised on the benefits of holding such conferences for the benefits of members. At the outset, CS Pasari welcomed the guests on behalf of Nagpur Chapter and said that the new chapter premises was opened at Wardha Road, Nagpur. During the conference ICSI opened 7 study centres at the remotest locations like Pombhurna, Kurkheda, Ghughus, Warora, Ballarpur, Gondpipri, Bhadravati for the benefit of the rural and tribal students. These study centres were facilitated by Nagpur Chapter. The eminent Speakers of the conference were CA Rajesh Loya, CA Anil Parakh, CS B Narasimhan, CS Shyam Agrawal, CS Ashish Garg, CS Ranjeet Pandey, Khilona Behra, Adv Aditya Jalan, Jaideep Kewalramani, Anil Birajdar and Smita Dhabolkar.
