Municipal Commissioner Sandeep G R is taking initiative to provide better infrastructure and facilities to citizens. In a unique initiative, Sandeep G R has introduced the concept of fruit forests to feed impoverished people. It is the first endeavor in the country to work on the concept of fruit forests. The fruit forest zones are being developed under the guidance of the Municipal Commissioner to provide access to fruits to the impoverished people. He informed that fruit forests would be developed in ISBT area and Pachpedi area. In addition to solving the problem of deforestation, fruit forest zones will ensure quality nutrition to the needy people.

 

In the initial stage, different varieties of fruit bearing saplings of trees are being planted in these places. The impoverished people will be given the sole responsibility of maintenance of fruit forests. To ensure availability of fruits to impoverished people, entry of common public will be banned in fruit forests. He said that necessary instructions have been issued to Garden Officer Aditya Shukla to speed up the development work of fruit forest zones. He added that fruit forest zones were common in foreign countries but Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has become the first in the country to work on the concept of fruit forests.
