A good supply chain management provider will always ensure that it strikes balance between logical and physical SCM

“TODAY is an era of globalisation. The world is at the tip of our fingers. Customers ordering any product online would always appreciate timely updates on delivery of goods, well packaged parcels, easy returns etc. These expectations of customers can be only satisfied with an effective supply chain management. Thus, it plays a crucial role in today’s era of globalisation,” said Dr Surendra Gole, a well known speaker and Principal of St Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur. He was addressing the VMA members during the ‘Wisdom Hour’ programme recently organised by Vidarbha Management Association (VMA) on the topic of ‘Significance of effective supply chain management’. Dr Gole further explained various issues that are associated with optimal Supply Chain Management (SCM). From manufacturing to loading there are several systems involved in SCM.

A business model can go for outsourcing SCM based on demand for their product. This helps in letting business focus on their core competency rather than getting engaged in SCM activities. A good supply chain management provider will always ensure that it strikes balance between logical and physical SCM. From choosing the right transportation to storage and return policy to unloading of products, everything needs backup and strong network across the country and overseas, Dr Gole pointed out.

The SCM provider that can offer a slew of services and can implement them in the smoothest pattern should be chosen by businesses to increase customer loyalty and chances of re-ordering, added Dr Gole. Attendees expressed their deep gratitude towards VMA on ‘Teachers Day’ as VMA has been providing the learning platform for its members by roping in experts to continue the efforts of knowledge sharing. Vidarbha Management Association is based at Nagpur and meets every Sunday at 10.30 am. VMA is dedicated to impart learning related to business management and leadership to its members. VMA is a non profit organisation and is currently in its 17th successful year of operation.
