The year 2021 started with torrent of coronavirus cases and ended also with surge in single day cases. Number of cases reported on Friday are almost three times the number of cases registered on Thursday. For the last whole week the district saw sudden rise in new cases. On the last day of the year, 90 persons tested positive for coronavirus. On Thursday, district had registered 28 new cases in one single day.

Of the single-day new cases, Nagpur rural has registered 8 new cases while one person who tested positive for the virus is not the resident of the district. The remaining 81 cases are reported in city. This has taken the cumulative positive cases to 4,94,049. Of the cumulative cases, 6,936 persons who tested positive are not the residents of district.

The number of recovered persons reached double digit for the first time in a week.

With 18 persons becoming corona-free, the cumulative recovery reached 4,83,656. The drastic rise in coronavirus cases has an impact on active cases as those rose to 271. The recovery rate too is going down everyday and too it came down to 97.90%.

Fortunately with nobody died on 48 day on Friday, the people of district have heaved a sigh of relief.

The cumulative death count stood at 10,122. Of the cumulative death number, 1,625 persons who died of COVID were not the residents of district.

The daily testing count in district has registered a fall as it has reported 4,442 testing. Nagpur rural has reported fall in testing to 1,348. City’s testing count has further come down to 3,094. With these the cumulative testing reached 42,30,089.

The samples examined through RT PCR were 3,764 while 678 were through Rapid Antigen Test.

Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined.

The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur. These laboratories include IGGMCH (900) and GMCH (370), AIIMS (777), NEERI (103), RTMNU (0) and private laboratories (1,614).

Some laboratories are doing Antigen (678) test.
