Sunday saw surge in single-day COVID-19 cases in Nagpur district. The RTPCR testing also increased and crossed 10,000 mark. With 832 persons testing positive for coronavirus in Nagpur district, the cumulative cases reached 4,97,588. Nagpur rural, too, is witnessing spike in cases as it reported 80 cases in one single-day while city’s count reached whopping 723. Of the total single-day cases, 29 persons, who tested positive, are not the residents of Nagpur district. Number of persons becoming free from coronavirus is also improving, but there is a huge gap between single-day cases and number of recovery.

 

On Sunday, 96 persons were declared as recovered taking the cumulative recovery to 4,84,120. Drastic rise in number of single-day cases led to fall in recovery rate to 97.29%. The active cases, too, rose to 3,345. On eighth day, nobody succumbed to the coronavirus and the cumulative death count stood at 10,123. Of the cumulative deaths 1,626 persons, who died of COVID-19, are not the residents of district. The daily testing count in district crossed 10,000 mark as it registered 10,767 testing. Nagpur rural has reported 3,196 testing while city’s testing count has gone up to 7,571. This has taken the cumulative testing to 42,96,378. The samples examined through RT PCR were 7,848 while 2,919 were through Rapid Antigen Test. Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined.

 

The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur. These laboratories include two State-run hospitals including virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (1,898) and Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (2,187). The Central Government run, molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (563) too is there. One central Government run-institute National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (342) is also doing yeoman’s job. Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (0) and private laboratories (2,856) are too contributing. Some laboratories are doing Antigen (2,919) test.
