AGGRIEVED with pending wages payment over 200 workers from Bhilai Engineering Corporation (BEC) on Tuesday noon resorted to stage demonstration near the company premises. The issue was sorted out after the team from Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Durg interacted with the agitating workers and convened bipartite meeting in the matter. According to information, on Tuesday noon, over 200 workers from BEC assembled near the company premises and while staging a vehement demonstration they started denouncing the company management while shouting slogans. The labourers were demonstrating while protesting delay in wages payment. After information a team from ALC, Durg office reached the place and assured the agitating workers regarding due measures for sorting out the issue. Acting in the matter the team from ALC office convened bipartite meeting of workers’ representatives with company management and the issue was sorted out in the process.

 

R K Pradhan, ALC, Durg informed that resentment among workers was prevailing owing to two months delay in wages payment. In the bipartite meeting with workers representatives and the management the latter assured to clear the pending wages in coming two months with payment of current months wages. He also added that the issue was resolved to the workers satisfaction and they assured to resume duty in the company from Wednesday onwards.
