Dr Madhusudan Penna, took charge as Officiating Vice-Chancellor of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU) from Prof Srinivasa Varakhedi who has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. Governor of Maharashtra who is Chancellor of all the State universities made the appointment of Dr Penna, winner of Sahitya Academy, Dean of Indian Religion, Philosophy and Culture. Welcoming the appointment of Dr Penna as Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof Varakhedi expressed confidence that KKSU will further grow under the leadership of Dr Penna. Prof Penna is scholar of foreign philosophy and expert of Vedant, Law and Yoga Science. Besides philosophy, Dr Penna is the expert in Sanskrit language, literature and grammar. An Epic Poet, Dr Penna has composed two epics namely
 
‘Kavyakanthcharitam and Pradnyachakshum’ apart from other poems. Prof Penna has written 40 books in Sanskrit, Telugu, Marathi, English and published research papers in several prestigious well-known journals. He is invited in several international and national conferences as keynote speaker and expert guide. His CDs on Shrimadbhagwadgita, Dashopanishade, Yogshastra and Advait Vedant are released. He has written various research books on Sanskrit and is the guide for Ph.D degree. Along with Sahitya Academy, Dr Penna has received Honourary D.Litt by Tirupati Sanskrit University, Yuvavipashchit and Sanskrit Pandit, Pandit Satvalekar award, Pandit Latkar Shastri award and Somnath Trust Gold Medal.
