NINE notorious criminals have been arrested for setting ablaze a JCB machine, firing at a person in Bichitola Manora and stealing mobile handsets in areas under City Kotwali police station limits. Police recovered three country made revolvers, one 9 mm local made pistol, 20 live cartridges and other items from the accused, who were caught while hatching a conspiracy to rob the bus passengers. Briefing to media, police officials informed that the accused had been identified as Manora, Timrala and Bartoli-based Sukhnath (33), Rohit Ram (19), Parikshit Kumar Bhagat (27), Rahul Pradhan (37), Ghuran Ram (53), Rakesh Ram (20), Amar Bhagat (37), Prafful Kujur (37) and Jaswant alias Jassu (27). Four including Amit Kujur are still absconding. City Kotwali police were tipped-off that some notorious miscreants were hatching conspiracy at a house in Dongatoli of village Neemgaon to commit robbery. Following the information, City Kotwali SHO Laxman Singh Dhurve, Lodan police outpost in-charge ASI Ishwar Prasad Warle and other police personnel headed to the house where the accused were planning robbery. Police cordoned off the area and arrested seven accused namely Sukhnath, Rohit Ram, Pariskshit Bhagat, Rahul Pradhan, Amar Bhagat, Ghuran Lohar and Rakesh Ram. The seven told that other three i.e. Amit, Nirmal and Devnarayan had gone to buy liquor at a nearby place. Meanwhile, they also told about two other accomplices.
 
On their statement, police nabbed their other two accomplices namely Prafful Kujur and Jaswant. All the accused confessed of hatching a conspiracy of theft at Patratoli Mahuatoli area and robbing the bus passengers on the main road. During interrogation, Rohit Ram told that he along with Amit Kujur and Prafful Kujur had stolen six mobile handsets and cash Rs 10,000 from a mobile shop at Patratoli Jashpur road and had fired on a JCB driver while attempting to kill him at village Bichitoli Kharsota. They had also set ablaze JCB in the area in order to spread terror and threatened Kharsota Sarpanch in order to extort money from him. According to information, five different cases have been registered against the accused under relevant sections of Arms Act and IPC against the accused. Police recovered three country made revolvers of 315 bore, one 9 mm local made pistol, two live cartridge of pistol, four live cartridge of AK-47, 12 live cartridges of 315 bore pistol, two live cartridges of 12 bore pistol, one iron sword, a sickle, an iron rod, nine mobile phones and many other items. Police recovered Rs 1000 cash from the accused and seized their motorcycle. Till the last report, the accused had been arrested and sent on judicial remand.
