Receiving Ph D is a great honour in itself. After much toiling, one receives Ph D. Obviously, when one gets Ph D which is much higher degree, one starts thinking to go to higher position in his or her career. But Chaitali Pagul, Assistant Sub-Inspector working with Nagpur Police (Rural) at Wireless unit, thinks differently. She chose her subject of research with a thought that the subject would help her enhance the quality of her department. Very few people have such magnamity where they contemplate to let their organisation grow through their achievement. Chaitali Pagul did her graduation and Post Graduation in Physics from Institute of Science. She took job at very early age of 19 when she was in B.Sc second year. Her father Khushalrao Keche, who got retired from Police Department 10 years ago, encouraged her to take the job in Wireless Department. “Recruitment for Wireless Department in police is done in a different way unlike the process implemented for other departments.

It needs a bit study and proper preparation. My father also asked me not to leave education halfway even after taking up the job so while doing job I kept studying. Gradually I completed B.Sc and then M.Sc in Physics,” elaborated Chaitali Pagul. After her marriage Chaitali took some break from the education and focussed on work and home. As a woman she had to look after her home too along with her job. When her first son Bhargav started going school, Chaitali used to help him in study, during which time she felt she should continue her education and then she went ahead with the thought of doing Ph.D with Prof S W Anawane from Shivaji Science College agreed to become her guide. “When I started pursuing PhD I realised it needed lot of time to be dedicated to research. Everybody in the department supported me. My husband Niranjan Pagul who is with city police motor transport section took every single responsibility of home and allowed me to study.

I could not enjoy the family time. Had he not supported I would not have completed my Ph.D, “admitted Chaitali humbly. She had to devote her leaves, holidays to do the research. She utilised every single moment to study. It took five years to complete her study and get Ph.D awarded by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Subject of thesis submitted by Chaitali was ‘Photoluminescence properties of rare earth in doped ZnO nanofibers’. “I shall remain grateful to my department for their cooperation. When the Ph.D awarded to me, then and there I decided that I would utilise my research to let my department avail the benefit of it. My field of job is of science and technology and my subject too was of the same area. To study science one needs interest which I have. My department look after the whole Maharashtra police’s satellite communication, maintainence and programming. My study will surely help it to grow higher. I studied without any selfish motive probably because of which I have that contentment,” expressed Chaitali Pagul.
