ONE of the two thieves arrested by Sonegaon Police in a theft case escaped from Government Medical College & Hospital (GMC&H) in the small hours of Wednesday. Condition of accused Pankanj Kanhaiyyalal Urkude (20), a resident of Mahakali Nagar, Beltarodi, who was in the police custody, started deteriorating and was admitted to Government Medical College & Hospital on Tuesday. Around 1.45 am on Wednesday, he dodged the cops deployed near the ward and ran away. After arresting Pankanj Urkude (20) and one Pranav Thakre (22), a resident of Khamla, cops had recovered stolen laptops, a printer, six mobile phones, a Ford car (MH-14/BC-1025), a Titan wrist watch, a silver idol, 15 silver coins, silver ornaments, a cutter machine, a welding machine and other material worth over Rs two lakh from their possession.
 
The two thieves were also involved in two other burglaries in Bajaj Nagar and Beltarodi areas. Pankaj Urkude and Pranav Thakre had stolen Rs 1.18 lakh cash, four cellphones, and a wrist watch collectively worth over Rs 1.80 lakh from the house of Nilesh Ramprasad Sharma at Plot No 10, Manish Layout, Sonegaon on December 30 last year. They had stolen a Sony TV, six mobile phones, a wrist watch, silver coins and artifacts collectively worth Rs 1.74 lakh from from a house in Bajaj Nagar. Similarly, they were also involved in a theft case registered at Beltarodi Police Station. They had also purchased a used car by paying the stolen cash to a person. During the custodial interrogation of accused Pankaj Urkude, his health started deteriorating and was admitted to GMC&H from where he escaped.
