In a setback to accused in the stationery scam in NMC, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) rejected their bail application on Thursday. The accused who moved bail application included contractors-Padmakar Sakore and Atul Sakore, GAD clerk Mohan Padvanshi, Auditor Ashfaq Ahmed and Account Officer Rajesh Meshram. The five have been accused of issuing bills worth lakhs of rupees without a work order, using important passwords without authorisation, passing bills with bogus signatures of officials, embezzling money from the Covid-19 fund.
 
The alleged scam of Rs 67 lakh had caused quite a stir in the general body meeting and all the five accused have been booked and arrested in the case. The accused applied to the CJM for bail and hearing was held on Wednesday. The CJM, after hearing the arguments of both the parties, had reserved order. Additional Public Prosecutor Taram argued for the prosecution while Adv Shrirang Bhandarkar, Adv Mukesh Shukla, Adv Prakash Naidu, Adv Prakash Jaiswal and Adv Shende defended the accused. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, CJM S D Pawar court rejected the bail application of the accused.
