Team Somalwar School Maa Umiya (CBSE)Branch conducts survey on Green Fuel
GREEN Fuel, also known as biofuel, is a type of fuel distilled from plants and animal matter innovated in the desperate search for alternative energy sources. Green Fuel has evolved as a p o s s i b l e fuelling option as the world drains its fossil fuel resources. A w a r e n e s s amongst the common man about the Green Fuel is not qualitatively satisfactory. The decision to shift to the usage of Green Fuel is appreciated by majority but much research, development and marketing need to be done. This conclusion was drawn by two students-- Samiksha Milmile and Kshitij Bokade of Standard IX of Somalwar School, Maa Umiya CBSE branch, during their study of Green Fuel. The IndianWomen Scientist Association (Nagpur Chapter) organised a research survey study to be carried out by stud e n t s . S a m i k s h a Milmile and Kshitij Bokade p e r f o r m e d research survey on Green Fuel. S a m i k s h a Milmile’s introspection from the survey was that people are not aware of Green Fuel.

According to her, people knew about the resources being used at present but much is needed to be done to have sustainable green fuel easily available to all to replace the same. Kshitij Bokade observed that people in India did not know about green fuel in depth. According to him emphasis should be given on knowing more and create awareness about green fuel. He also feels there are other renewable resources available which are dependable, sustainable and affordable which can be tapped in a big way with more effort. The questionnaire consisted of 20 questions based on awareness, information and knowledge and trust in technology. The responses were sought from the cross section of the society cutting across literary and economic condition of the respondents. The analytical study concluded, “Fossil fuel depletion has always been an area of concern. Alternative fuel gives us a ray of hope for better future and would be a step ahead in technological advancement.” The team was ably guided by Sushma Barde and supported by Principal Rajshree Dutta. The team received a cash prize and citation for their commendable efforts.
