Four of a family killed in mishap near Pandhurna

Four persons from Nagpur were killed on the spot while three seriously injured when the four-wheeler Tavera, which they were travelling in, was hit by a speeding truck near Pandhurna in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh early Sunday morning. The deceased are identified as Bayyabai Haridas Nandanwar (56), her son Mahesh Nandanwar (29), daughter Archana Ganesh Khapre (33) and Pramod Dashrath Dharmik (22). All were residents of Panchpaoli area of Nagpur. According to police, Ganesh Vasudev Khapre was diagnosed with cancer. He is the son-in-law of Nandanwar family. The family had gone to Bhilwara in Rajasthan for his treatment.
 
The accident occurred on early Sunday morning at Mohi Ghat on Bhopal-Nagpur highway when the family was returning to Nagpur. A speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit Tavera. The car was badly mangled and the occupants were trapped in the four-wheeler. Locals rescued the injured persons and rushed them to a hospital where four of them were declared dead. Three critically injured persons were shifted to Nagpur, police said. The truck driver fled the spot. The police registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and MVA against the truck driver who is still absconding.
