ALLEGEDLY hurt by boyfriend’s refusal to tie the nuptial knot with her, a 32-year-old woman attacked him with a knife in his rented room at Dattawadi on Monday night. With serious injuries, Akshay Krishnaji Dhoke (25) was rushed to Well Treat Multispeciality Hospital in Wadi area. Cops immediately launched a search for accused Pooja Goswami, a resident of Sai Nagar, who escaped after attempting to kill Akshay. An employee of a private company, Akshay was staying in a rented room with two of his friends. Akshay and Pooja had an affair for the past couple of years. Pooja was a divorcee.

  

As she was insisting for marriage, Akshay started avoiding her. After some days, he blocked her phone calls. Enraged over this, she allegedly schemed to eliminate him. On Monday night, she barged into Akshay’s room and attacked him with a sharp weapon. On hearing Akshay’s screams, neighbours rushed to his room. Sensing trouble, Pooja ran away. Neighbours took Akshay to Well Treat Multispeciality Hospital. Following a complaint lodged by Nandprakash Dhoke (30), elder brother of the victim and a resident of Silli, Taluka Umred, Wadi Police registered a case under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code against Pooja. On Tuesday, cops traced Pooja’s mobile phone location and apprehended her from her friend’s house near Futala.
