In the murder-suicide case of Madan Agrawal family, the police learnt that Madan had attempted to end his life on two occasions in last two years. “He attempted to commit suicide two times within the last two years. However, the family members managed to save him and provided timely medication,” said DCP Zone V Manish Kalwania. The DCP also said that Madan was not in stable mental state due to huge debt. In the first suicide attempt, he had consumed an excess amount of some tablets.

 

In next attempt, he consumed some poisonous substance. In both attempts, the family members managed to save his life. However, the incident did not come on the police records as the family members had not informed the police, DCP Kalwania stated. “We are investigating the case from all possible angles. His cellphone is locked and the cyber cell is working on it,” the DCP said. Madan Agrawal (40) had allegedly killed his wife Kiran (33) and two children by stabbing them with a sharp-edged weapon and then committed suicide at his rented house in Jaripatka area on Tuesday. The incident had sent shockwaves across the city.

 

The last rites were performed at Vaishali Nagar ghat on Wednesday. The police are recording statements of relatives and friends of Agrawal. Once the phone is accessed, the police are likely to call more persons for interrogation depending on the data retrieved from the cellphone.
