Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) acted with iron fist against those traders who were found selling and using banned polythene on Monday. In thirty seven cases, BMC squad confiscated more than two quintal banned polythene and recovered fine of Rs 27, 500 from the violators. BMC Squad did action in Ghodda Nakkas, Bal Vihar, Jumerati, Azad Market and recovered fine of Rs 24,700 in eight cases. Along with this, it seized 2.20 quintal polythene. In Karond Mandi, BMC squad took action against 29 shopkeepers, seized loose polythene and recovered fine of Rs 3000. Along with this, BMC Squad warned shopkeepers that they should not use banned polythene. It was recently that BMC Commissioner had convened the meeting of traders and cautioned them not to use prohibited polythene which poses serious threat to environment.
 
He had warned of action in case of polythene storage, sell and use. BMC took action against those shopkeepers who were illegally running the temporary shops of chicken and meat in Baghsevania area on Monday. The makeshift shops were demolished and wood, sheets were seized. Likewise, it also took action against more than one dozen shopkeepers, illegally selling fish at RRL Trisection and Berkheda Pathani area. their encroachment was removed and wooden platform, lights etc were seized. This action was taken in the leadership of in charge health officer Rakesh Sharma and in presence of in charge anti encroachment officer Nasir Khan, in charge assistant health officer Dinesh Pal etc.
