Public satisfaction towards work of police is State Government’s top priority: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that law and order is most important in the making of Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh. The satisfaction of the public towards the work of the police is the top priority of the state government. Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing the review meeting of Home and Jail Department in Mantralaya. He added that it is necessary to prepare an effective action plan to solve crimes against children and women, cyber crime, drug cases and Naxal problem in the state. Ranking of districts should be ensured on the basis of law and order situation. This will develop a competitive spirit among the districts. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the CSP, SDOP, Superintendents of Police and high level officers must increase their visits to the areas. With positive improvement in the law and order situation due to officers’ visits, confidence of the public in the police system also increases. The experience of the senior officers posted in the Police Headquarters should also be utilized in resolving the problems of the area.
 
A systematic record of the visits of the officers should be maintained at the state level. Chief Minister Chouhan said that continuous training of field officers related to criminal laws is necessary. Forensic science has an important role in solving criminal cases. Therefore, work should be done to develop latest research systems and institutes specializing in forensic science in the state. Chief Minister Chouhan said that the police personnel need to pay special attention to their fitness. Reviewing the activities of the Jail Department, Chief Minister Chouhan said that the jail staff quarters should be constructed near the jail. The work of building maintenance of jails running in very old buildings should be done on time. Repair works should not be kept pending. Brands of some items manufactured in jails should be developed and publicized to introduce the products being prepared by the prisoners with their various skills to the outside world. Director General Jail Arvind Kumar informed that there are 131 jails in the state, out of which there are 11 Central Jails, 41 District Jails, Open Jails 6 and Sub Jail 71.
 
These have a capacity of 29 thousand 571 prisoners. Ensure proper treatment to prisoners: Chief Minister Chouhan instructed in the meeting that proper arrangements should be made for the treatment of prisoners serving in jail when they are unwell. Vacant medical posts in jails should be filled. Along with this, arrangements for treatment in district hospital or private hospital should also be ensured. Public darshan of Subhash Ward of Jabalpur Jail: Chief Minister Chouhan asked for the speedy implementation of the proposed programme to open the Subhash Ward of Jabalpur jail to the general public. Chief Minister Chouhan said that it can be started from January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Home and Jail Minister Dr Mishra said that its formal process has been started. It may be noted that the British authorities had imprisoned Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Jabalpur Jail for about six months in the year 1933 and 1934. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan had recently also announced to open the Subhash ward of this jail to the public.
