EVEN a small initiative can bring about a big change in one’s life. This has come true for a villager, a resident of village Kuyenar of Bijapur district. This villager has now got rid of his financial crisis and is living a happy life. He owes to the department of Fisheries, Government of Chhattisgarh, which not only provided the beneficiary with raw material but also proper training. Currently, he is making an additional income of Rs 3 lakh through Pisciculture. This success story is of farmer Narad Mandavi, a resident of village Kuyenar under Bijapur block of Bijapur district. He has been practising Pisciculture for the last five years. He said that out of his 0.5 hectare land, he transformed 0.2 hectares into ‘Dabri’ (a small pond) to undertake pisciculture.
 
Narrating his success story, Mandawi says that he was provided technical training by the Department of Fisheries. ‘Under various schemes run by the department, necessary materials have been provided to start the business’, he said, claiming that currently he was earning Rs 3 lakh per annum. It is worth mentioning here that Keeping in view the more profit earning probability through Pisciculture, the department is trying its best to associate more and more number of farmers with the same. Apart from pisciculture, farmer Narad Mandavi is currently earning additional income through poultry farming, duck farming and vegetable production. With this, he is not only able to earn good money for his family, but has also become an inspiration for other farmers struggling to meet their daily needs.
