Despite presence of administrative machinery and law enforcers, the grand event organised as oath taking ceremony for newly-elected 70 wards corporators of Bhilai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and subsequent elections for the post of Mayor and Speaker here on Thursday, witnessed violation of Covid protocol at a large extent. Several senior political leaders, their supporters and others thronged to the main office of BMC to attend the oath taking ceremony and to celebrate their party’s victory.

 

Unfortunately, in mood of celebration, there were hardly anyone bothered to obey the Covid cautions while following social distancing or properly wearing mask. Whether, it was stage area, public sitting area or outside the premises of BMC’s Main Gate, people were seen blatantly violating Covid norms while hugging, greeting each other, gathering in large number, improperly wearing mask and ignoring social distancing.
