Mayor completes two years in office, talks about his achievements

Amidst the challenging times of coronavirus pandemic, Mayor Aijaz Dhebar has completed two years at the office. He informed about his achievements in two years at a press conference on Thursday. Speaking to the mediapersons, Mayor said that he had assumed charge on January 6, 2020 and the Capital city faced its first wave of Covid-19 on March 13 the same year. He didn’t give excuse of pandemic, rather changed the challenge into opportunity to development works done. He also announced construction of a new football ground at Hind Sporting Ground. He appealed people to wear mask as per Covid guidelines or they will be penalized. According to directions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, RMC carried out identification of Covid patients and provided them with necessary medical facility under the guidance of District Administration in the first and second wave. RMC also set-up 300-bed capacity hospital at Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium within four days.
 
It was equipped with oxygen concentrators, 3 ventilators and nebulization facility for the patients along with televisions and pathology lab. Besides, similar facility was also established at women’s hostel at Fundahar. RMC also supplied oxygen cylinders to patients at their homes and teams of doctors and paramedical staffers examined the patients at homes. And now RMC has once again prepared for the third wave. Mayor also talked about Chief Minister Slum Health Scheme to provide medical facilities to slum dwellers, which was started on November 1, 2020. The scheme has been run through 60 mobile medical vehicles in entire state including 15 vehicles in Raipur in the first phase. In total, 334709 patients have been treated at 5126 camps by mobile medical units in Raipur, 66,447 patients were given lab testing facility and medicines were distributed to 3,01,161 patients. Mayor also mentioned the ambitious Dhanwantari Generic Medical Store scheme, under which medical stores were opened at Netaji Subash Stadium and Amlidih in the first phase.
 
Patients get up to 72 per cent discounts on medicines at these medical stores. New Dhanwantari medical stores will be opened soon at canal linking road near Bhatia Nursing Home, near inter-state bus terminal, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital and GE Road in front of Ayurvedic College. Mayor also talked about Swami Atmananda English Medium School, Budhatalab Beautification and Development Project, New City Kotwali Building, Jawahar Bazaar renovation, new facilities at the Collectorate garden, Oxy Zone Smart Road, Gole Bazaar project, multi-level parking, widening of roads/squares, funds for air quality augmentation, Sakri solid waste management and processing plant, pink toilets for women, Tunhar Sarkar Tunhar Dwar initiative to resolve civic issues, Godhan Nyay Yojana, pond beautification, Water Supply Scheme, Smart Road, garden development, Amrut Mission Scheme, sewerage treatment plant at Bhatagaon, new instant building permit clearance system through www.niwaspass.com portal.
