All is not well on novel coronavirus front in Nagpur district. On Friday, COVID-19 cases reached close to 700. Active cases have now crossed 2,000 mark. Fortunately, with three digit recovery, the fall in recovery rate is marginal and nobody died of COVID-19 on sixth day. Though, no new case of Omicron was detected in district, two persons admitted for its treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur were to be taken into Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
On Friday, 698 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Nagpur district. New cases in Nagpur rural too reached close to 90 as it reported 89 new cases. Nagpur city has reported whopping 593 cases. There are 16 persons who tested positive for coronavirus but are not the residents of Nagpur district. With these the cumulative cases reached 4,96,065. Of the cumulative cases, 7,025 persons who tested positive are not the residents of district.
Single day recovery has reached three digit on Friday as 132 persons became free from coronavirus which is good thing. This has taken the cumulative recovery to 4,83,892. Of course recovery rate has continued to fall. On Friday, it has gone down to 97.55%. Considering the whopping positive cases the fall is not that drastic as number of recovered,
too, has increased. The rising new single cases have led to increase in active cases those reached 2,050.
Friday is the sixth day when nobody died of coronavirus and the cumulative death count stood at 10,123. Of the cumulative deaths 1,626 persons who died of COVID were not the residents of district.
The daily testing count in district has registered rise by 3,000 as on Friday district has reported 9,012 testing. Nagpur rural has reported 3,465 testing while city’s testing count too has further gone up to 5,547 taking the cumulative testing to 42,76,428.
The samples examined through RT PCR were 7,499 while 1,513 were through Rapid Antigen Test. Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined. The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur. These laboratories include two State-run hospitals including virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (1,700) and Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (929). The Central Government run, molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (889) too is there. One central Government run-institute National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (112) is also doing yeoman’s job. Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (0) and private laboratories (3,869) are too contributing. Some laboratories are doing Antigen (1,513) test.
