500 mm pipeline damaged at Futala; OCW blames Maha Metro vendor

The 500 mm diameter Futala feeder pipeline that supplies water to entire Futala area and areas along Amravati Road got damaged on Saturday morning, following which water got accumulated at the site of work of ambitious Futala beautification project. Orange City Water (OCW) accused Maha Metro vendor of damaging the pipeline opposite Futala lake ‘for the third time’, and lodged a complaint in this regard at Ambazari Police Station. In response, Maha Metro officials said that Maha Metro would carry out repairs at the earliest.
 
According to OCW officials, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and OCW immediately started damage plugging work on war-footing. However, they said, water supply to many areas will remain affected as it is very difficult task to repair the pipeline. The areas to which water supply will remain affected due to breakdown include Upper Futala, Lower Futala, Sanjay Nagar, New Sudam Nagri, Trust Layout, Futala slum, Kachimet, Ridhi Siddhi, Himalaya Valley, Hindusthan Colony, Dhobhighat, Telangkhedi Hanuman Mandir, Pandhrabodi etc.
