Kanchanmala, Shreyash shine in para swimming

KANCHANMALA Pande and Shreyash Bahadure, both members of Aqua Sports Club, brought laurels to the city by winning several medals at the 14th Maharashtra State Paralympic Swimming Championship that was organised by Paralympic Sports Association, Maharashtra.
Kanchanmala and Shreyas were felicitated at the NIT Swimming Pool by Preeti Lanjekar, Vice-President, Operations, Midland Sports and Ashwin Janbandhu, Manager Operations, Midland Sports. Mangesh Gadre, Secretary Aqua Sports Club, chief coach of ASC Dr Pravin Lamkhade and ASCA Level - 5 coach Vishal Chandurkar were also present.
Kanchanmala a visually impaired swimmer won three gold medals in S-11 women category while Shreyash won a silver in U-18 boys S-14 category. Kanchanmala won the gold in 100 mts freestyle, 100 mts backstroke and 100 mts breaststroke whereas Shreyas won silver in 100 mts freestyle.
Both are selected to represent Maharashtra at national-level meet. Kanchanmala and Shreyas train under the able guidance of senior coach Dr Pravin Lamkhade (NSNIS, Patiala) and ASCA Level – 5 coach Vishal Chandurkar.
Aqua Sports Club President Mohan Nahatkar, Secretary Mangesh Gadre, Director Midland Sports Prashant Ugemuge, Vice-President Operations Midland Sports Preeti Lanjekar, Manager Operations Midland Sports Ashwin Janbandhu, Kanchanmala’s husband Vinod Deshmukh, Shreyash’s father Vinod Bahadure and sports lovers congratulated both
the swimmers for their achievements.
