On the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote Local for Vocal, Member of Parliament Rakesh Singh along with party workers on Saturday purchased Diyas (earthen lamps) and other materials for Diwali from local market in Garha.
Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Singh said earlier our country was called Sone-ki-Chidiya. One of the reasons for that our ancestors used to buy all items from local traders except those which were not manufactured in our country. The advantage of the same was that the country’s money rolled in the country only as well as the small traders also got help for their livelihood. Since last few years the items which are used in our major festivals are
also imported from other countries. It has affected our local business. Hence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the countrymen to promote ‘Local for Vocal’ during festivals and buy materials from local traders so that they too can make good earnings for better living.
On Saturday, MP Rakesh Singh along with party workers also bought earthen lamps from local potters to worship Maa Laxmi at home during pious occasion of Diwali, as well as for Deepotsav programme to be held at the banks of river Narmada in Gwarighat on Diwali.
