KV GCF no. 2 only school from MP selected for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar in overall category

Kendriya Vidyalaya GCF no. 2 is the only school from Madhya Pradesh which has been selected by Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India under Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) in overall category. The school family specially students who have developed hygiene habit and played significant role to keep the campus clean, informed Principal, KV GCF no. 2, Akanksha Samuel. Principal Samuel was addressing a press conference on Wednesday to share the pleasure of getting selected to receive Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22 in New Delhi on November 19. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will present the awards. She added that almost every school of Madhya Pradesh underwent registration and KV GCF no. 2 obtained a place among 10 schools selected in first phase (State-level). KV GCF no. 2 is among three KVs selected from across the country.
SVP was instituted in 2016-17 to recognise, inspire and celebrate excellence in water, sanitation and hygiene practices in Government elementary and secondary schools. The awards are given at district, state and national-levels with explicit purpose to honour schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling mandate of Swachh Vidyalaya campaign. From State-level award winning schools, 606 schools were in zone of consideration for national-level Awards for SVP 2021-22. Out of which 39 schools were selected for national-level awards, including 34 schools, under overall category while remaining 5 schools were selected under sub-categories. In overall category, schools will be given Rs 60,000 each while in sub-categories Rs 20,000 each will be provided as additional school grant to be utilised as per Samagra Shiksha Guidelines for improving sanitation and hygiene with a Certificate of Recognition.
