Police have succeeded in apprehending a self-styled Baba for duping several persons in the name of increasing their money 10 times and seized cash of Rs 70,000, 70-grams gold jewellery, 400-grams silver jewellery, a motorcycle and fake currency notes of Rs 20 lakh from him. The accused has been identified as Krishna Kumar Namdeo (35), son of Babulal Namdeo, resident of IBTC Lametaghat.
Superintendent of Police, Siddharth Bahuguna (IPS) disclosed this while addressing a press conference, on Wednesday. He informed that Manohar Singh Thakur of Gautam Mariha in Sanjeevani Nagar, Preeti Karyamore, Sunita Ben, Manish Chakrawarty and Vijay Singh Thakur and Laxmi Kureel lodged similar complaints against a self-styled Baba named Krishna Kumar who duped them with lakhs of rupees in the name of increasing their money by ten times through superstitious practice. Acting on all the complaints, Sanjeevani Nagar and Ranjhi poilce registered separate cases under Sections 420, 506 and 34 of IPC.
Investigating the case, police nabbed the accused Krishna Kumar Namdeo from Andhmuk by-pass. In the interrogation, the accused broke out and informed that he is native of Pipariya vilolage and his father sold out the house in Pipariya and constructing new house in Indira Nagar, Ranjhi. He was working as vegetable vendor in the age of 15-16 years and also worked as construction worker and put-up tea kiosk with his elder brother Ramji. Meanwhile, he came in contact with Ranjit of Gwarighat who allured him for taking out underground treasure. He and Ranjhi reached at Allahabad where some persons duped them with cash of Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5000 in the name of unburying treasure. In year 2011, he duped a woman with Rs 10,000 for taking out underground treasure but he was caught by Hanumantal police and imprisoned. In 2017, he lived at a rented house in Adhartal where he started duping persons in the name of superstitious practices and started religious practice. Thereafter, he started alluring the devotees in the name of increasing their money by ten times. Accused was arrested by team comprising SHO, Shobhna Mishra, SI, Satish Jharia, Constables, Nitin Mishra, Rahul Singh, Rajkumar Baghel, Yashwant Kaurav, Jitendra Yadav and Cyber Cell’s Amit Patel.
