NAGPUR badminton players continued to excel in the State meet as they clinched titles and some finished second best at the Maharashtra Sub-Junior State Selection Tournament on Friday.

While Pranay Gadewar and Nishika Gokhe won the Under-15 mixed doubles title, Nishika Gokhe and Ridheema Sarpate claimed the girls doubles crown in the same age group.

In the mixed doubles final, Pranay and Nishika defeated Sanidhaya Ekade and Avantika Khedikar 21-13, 25-23 to emerge champion while Nishika and Ridheema claimed the girls doubles crown defeating Juie Jadhav and Yuktika Chavan 21-17, 21-13.

Krisha Soni and Pinak Rokde lost to Sharvani Walekar and Taarini Suri 13-21, 21-17, 17-21 to finish second best in girls Under-17 doubles. Both train under junior Indian coach Ajay Dayal at Wardhaman Nagar’s Doshi and Dayal Academy. Prakriti Sharma finished second best in Under-15 girls singles.
