VIDARBHA tail stung Haryana as they posted a massive score in first innings in their Cooch Behar match at JR Institute of Cricket Technology ground in Barwala, Haryana on Sunday.
Starting at their overnight score of 338-2 in 90 overs, Danish Malewar (110; 150b, 19x4, 1x6) struck his second hundred of the season while batsmen — Rohit Binkar (180; 298b, 26x4, 5x6), vice-captain Jagjot Singh Sasan (31; 57b, 1x4, 2x6), Ashit Singh (64; 148b, 9x4), Dharmendra Thakur (93*; 142b, 14x4) and Gaurav Farde (46; 60b, 7x4, 1x6) — in that order, made merry as the team amassed 637-8 in 179.5 overs by stumps on second day of the match.
Only skipper Mohammad Faiz (9) missed out. It will be interesting to see whether Vidarbha declare at their overnight score or let Thakur complete his maiden ton.
Saturday’s night out batters Binkar, who was on 150, and Malewar, who was 87, added 31 more on the morrow to score 181 for the third wicket partnership before the latter departed.
During the last session, Thakur and Farde stitched a 95-run partnership from 135 balls but on penultimate ball of the day, Farde got out. Brief scores: Vidarbha 637-8 in 179.5 overs (R Binkar 180, D Malewar 110, D Thakur 93*; S Jakhar 2-77, Y Vardhan 2-105) vs Haryana.
