VIDARBHA recorded their second win in two days as they beat Odisha by seven wickets in Group B of Men’s Under-25 State A Trophy cricket tournament at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Monday.
After restricting Odisha for 187-9 in 50 overs, Vidarbha batters, once again led well by the openers Prerit Agrawal and Aman Mokhade, knocked off required runs at a good pace reaching 188-3 in 29.2 overs.
Asked to take strike first, Odisha were dealt three early blows. New ball partners Praful Hinge (10-2-23-4) and Dipesh Parwani (8-0-49-1) reduced the rivals to 12-3 in 4.4 overs with Hinge taking two in his third over. Wicketkeeper Sawan Pahariya (53; 86b, 5x4) and Subham Satrujit (38; 67b, 2x4) steadied the ship. Hinge accounted for both of them. In between Dushyant Tekan (9-0-25-1) and Yash Kadam (10-1-38-3) took one each. Kadam then took last two wickets to fall. But, once again, Vidarbha bowlers failed to take all the ten wickets.
Agrawal (51; 38b, 6x4, 2x6) and Mokhade (85*; 83b, 12x4) helped themselves to their second fifties in as many innings putting on 83 from just 66 balls. Yash Rathod (24) and captain Mandar Mahalle (14) did not last long. Mokhade and Nayan Chavan (10*) ensured there were no further hiccups.
