UNITED Football Welfare Association (UFWA) under the aegis of Nagpur District Football Association (NDFA) is organising Majjuseth All India Gold Cup Football tournament at Military Ground in Kamptee from November 25.
Rabbani Club will take on Ansar Sporting in opener.
Eight outstation and four local Elite Division teams will be taking part in the 8th edition of the tournament.
Addressing a press conference, Mehmood Akhtar Ansari, Secretary of the association said that the winner will get Rs 1,50,000 while the runners-up will get Rs 1,00,000 as prize money.
“City’s Elite Division defending champions Ansar Sporting, former champions Rabbani Club, Young Muslim Football Club and Rahul Sankrutyayan Club and outstation teams of Lucknow Army, Punjab Police, Ambernath United Mumbai, Artillery Centre Hyderabad, DK Pharma Mumbai, Tamil Nadu Police have been invited for the tournament,” said Ansari.
“Four teams have been given direct entry in the league round while other six will have to fight to enter the league stage. The teams will be divided into three groups, informed Nasir Jamal.
The knock-out games will be played from November 25 to 28 and form November 29 to December 2 the league matches will be played. The final will be played on December 4.
The tournament will be inaugurated at the hands of Col K J Hori at the Military Football Ground, Kamptee at 2.30 pm.
Abhijit Sanap, Chief Executive Officer, Cantonment Board, Kamptee will preside over. Col Krishna Nair, Col Amitabh Hoskote, Haji Qamaruddin, Mohd Ayaz Rayeen will also be present. Haji Mohd Israil and Akhtar Jamal were also present during the presser.
