Sleuths of Lokayukta Police special establishment, Jabalpur caught a Patwari while taking bribe of Rs 8,000 for updating loan book at Mudwara Tehsil office, on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Ramnath Bunkar, son of Pancham Lal Bunkar, a resident of Katni and posted as Patwari Mudwara No-2 in Katni district.
Lokayukta Inspector Surekha Parmar informed that an appellant named Anand Kumar Gautam, a resident of Hardua village in Katni, lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police Lokayukta Jabalpur, Sanjay Sahu that he had filed an application for updating the record in loan book after distribution of his ancestral land. He contacted at tehsil office several times when Patwari Mudwara-2 named Ramnath Bunkar demanded bribe of Rs 8,000 for updating computer record of loan book.
Taking a serious note on the complaint, SP, Lokayukta constituted a team and fielded the appellant for collecting evidences. Once the information was verified, Lokayukta police team comprising Inspector Surekha Parmar, Inspector
Rekha Prajapati, Inspector Kamal Uike and team reached tehsil office and trapped corrupt Patwari while taking bribe of Rs 8,000 from the appellant. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the corrupt Government employee under relevant Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act while further investigations are underway.
