FOUR Naxals were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Pomra forest patches under Mirtur police station limits on Saturday morning. However, the deceased Naxals are yet to be identified. Based on inputs about the presence of Divisional Commanders (DVCM) Mohan Kadti and Sumitra, Matwada LOS Commander Ramesh and 30 to 40 Naxals in Pomra forests, a joint team of District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force and Central Reserve Police Force had left for search operation. During searching, security personnel were crossing Poram forests, when they came under heavy firing of Naxals. Security personnel took their positions and retaliated in self defence. The Naxals could not sustain longer and vanished inside deep jungles.

After the guns fell silent, security forces searched the area and recovered four dead bodies of Naxals. The bodies of two males and two females besides 303 and 315 rifles were also recovered from the spot. Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said that the Naxals killed in the encounter are yet to be identified.
