KAMPTEE United emerged champions of the Shahid Bhagat Singh Memorial Inter-District Hockey Tournament. In the event organised by Vidarbha Hockey Players Association at Vidarbha Hockey Association’s ground, Kamptee United thumped Ajni Club 4-1 in the final to lift the trophy.

Akash Kanojiya gave Kamptee United the lead in 16th minute of play. Eleven minutes later, Ajni equalised through Pankaj Shahu. The scoresheet read 1-1 at the half-time. Kamptee’s Ravikant Supare (37th), Abhishekh Gajbhiye (42nd) and Harshal Randhai (59th) pumped in three more in the last two quarters for a comfortable win.

Former India goalkeeper and coach Mir Ranjan Negi gave away the prizes. Also present on the occasion were VHA Administrator Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee TN Sidhra, Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Madhuri Gurnule, Gurpreet Singh, Narendra Jichkar, Kishor Jichkar, Harish Kapoor, Kishor Goydani, Ravi Francis, Miller Francis, Dara Singh, DV Talewar, Faiyyaz Qureshi and Neville Cassad.
