Malvika, Ritika rise to career-best BWF rankings

CITY shuttlers Malvika Bansod and doubles specialist Ritika Thaker achieved their respective career-best positions in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings that were released on Tuesday.
While Malvika, who recently became India No 1 and had been world No 39 for few weeks, jumped four rungs to settle for a world ranking of 35, Ritika jumped a couple of places to 61st.
A fine show at her last event — Hylo Open BWF World Tour Super 300 Tournament in Saarbrucken, Germany, took Malvika to her career-best world ranking of 35 in he women’s singles. Malvika made it to the quarter-finals upsetting better rated players on her way.
The 21-year-old Malvika is supported by Vishvaraj Infrastructure Limited (VIL) and trains under reputed coach Sanjay Mishra in Raipur. Ritika reached career-best ranking in women’s doubles moving from 63 to 61.
