A joint team of Anti Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU) and Telibandha police arrested a 43-year-old man allegedly indulged in illegal storage of liquor as well as in bootlegging and recovered liquor worth Rs 3 lakh from his possession.
“Following a tip-off about illegal storage of Haryana-made liquor at a house near Punjab Kesari Bhawan, the team swung into action and conducted a raid on Friday resulting in recovery of a huge quantity of liquor. In connection with the liquor’s illegal storage, police arrested a man and seized 27 cartons of liquor bottles to the tune of around Rs 3 lakh,” said a police officer. The arrested accused person was identified as Vijay Munjar (43), a resident of Amlidih under New Rajendra Nagar Police Station.
The officer further informed that the seized illegally stored liquor was Haryana manufactured. The accused was allegedly indulged in bootlegging and illegal selling of the alcohol. During questioning, the arrested accused admitted to bringing the liquor from Haryana. Police have booked the arrested accused under relevant sections of Excise Act and started investigation.
