RAIPUR,
Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that she would consider signing the reservation bills after getting replies of the queries, which have been sent to the State Government.
Talking to mediapersons at Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur on Wednesday night after returning from Delhi, Governor Uikey said that she had discussed with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah about all the issues including the newly-passed reservation bills.
Replying to a query on future of reservation bills, Uikey said on the advice of her legal advisor, she had sent 10 queries to the Chhattisgarh Government. After getting an appropriate reply from the State Government, she will consider signing the reservation bills viz Chhattisgarh Public Service (Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Other Backward Classes) Amendment Bill, 2022 and Chhattisgarh Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Bill-2022 were passed by the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on December 2.
The reservation bills will provide 76 per cent reservation in government jobs and in admissions to government educational Institutions.
It may be mentioned that the High Court of Chhattisgarh had set aside the State Government’s 2012 order to raise the quota to 58% in government jobs and admissions in educational institutions and held that reservation exceeding 50% ceiling is unconstitutional.
