Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has flared up against the officials of Raj Bhawan after Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that she would sign the reservation bills after taking legal opinion from her legal advisor.
Talking to mediapersons at state Congress party office Rajiv Bhawan in the State Capital on Monday, Chief Minister Baghel asked whether the Legal Advisor to Governor has become bigger than the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. In fact, the reservation amendment bills are stuck at Raj Bhawan for the signature of the Governor since December 2. After the reservation bills were received at the Raj Bhawan, the Governor had asked 10 questions to the State Government. The State Government however was in a denial mode to reply to the queries raised by the Governor on the pretext that there is no such constitutional obligation. But later after a delegation of the tribal MLAs of the ruling party met the Governor, the State Government changed its stance and replied to the queries of the Governor reasoning that they did so considering the interest of 2.75 crore people of the State. Still, keeping in mind the insistence of the Governor, the reply was send thinking that 2.75 crore people of the State should get the benefit of reservation and the constitutional pride of Raj Bhawan is satisfied. Now that the Legal Advisor is examining the authenticity of the bills on behalf of the Governor, is the Legal Advisor of the Raj Bhawan bigger than the Legislative Assembly, Baghel asked adding that the judiciary High Court and Supreme Court are there to examine the legal authenticity of the bills, he added. “An attempt is being made to humiliate the statutory institutions in the State.
Rahul Gandhi Ji also says that there is a concerted effort to weaken the constitutional institutions,” the Chief Minister said. The Chief Minister said that the leaders of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) have decided to hold a rally in the State Capital on January 3 in order to register a protest for the delay in signing the reservation bills. Talking to mediapersons at Rajiv Bhawan in the State Capital, Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) always works to spread hatred. The Governor of the State is also caught in the trap of the BJP. When asked whether the Congress protest would be against the Governor, Lakhma said, “No, the protest would be against the ideology of the BJP and the RSS. The BJP is responsible for delay in implementation of reservation in the State. That’s why the Congress is holding a rally in the State Capital on January 3.” It may be mentioned that Governor Anusuiya Uikey had made a statement in Bilaspur that the Raj Bhawan does not work under pressure and after obtaining legal opinion from the Legal Advisor of Raj Bhawan, she would take decision over the reservation bills.
