IN order to review the preparedness and shortcomings of COVID pandemic as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, a mock drill of the corona (COVID) management protocol was
undertaken here at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (BRAMH) affiliated to Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College (JLNMMC) on Tuesday. Health Minister T S Singhdeo watched the mock drill online. According to the guidelines received from the State Administration, during the Covid management mock drill, rapid response of the medical, nursing and paramedical staff was assessed through a symbolic patient. The mock drill that took place in the specialised corona ward of the hospital ensured that if any possible case of corona comes in future actual promptness needed was treated. During this preparedness initiative, all kinds of life-saving equipments were symbolically tested to ensure its functionality and usage on emergency. Health Minister T S Singhdeo watched the mock drill online and reviewed the overall preparations.
Besides, Dean of JLNMMC Dr Tripti Nagariya, Superintendent of BRAMH Dr S B S Netam, Head of Department of Orthopedics Dr Vineet Jain, Critical Care Specialist and corona ICU In-charge Dr O P Sundrani, Head of Department of Respiratory Medicine Dr R K Panda, Dr Santosh Singh Patel from Ophthalmology Department, Dr Sandeep Chandrakar from General Surgery Department along with nursing staff, paramedical staff and technical experts of the hospital were present during the mock drill. Sharing his views on the preparation for corona in BRAMH, Hospital Superintendent Dr S B S Netam said that there is adequate arrangement in the hospital to deal with the possible cases of corona. Presently there is sufficient availability of medical oxygen in the hospital with two PSA oxygen generator plants, one cryogenic tank as well as manifold system for oxygen. Meanwhile, a 20- bedded corona ICU and 12-bedded triage ward is ready to provide treatment on emergency at any time.
Apart from this, there is a provision of 60 beds with oxygen and if needed additional beds will be added. There is adequate availability of medicines, PPE kits and test kits, he added. Dr Netam further said that there is no case of corona in the hospital. As per the instructions of the government, complete preparations have been made at the hospital level to deal with Covid.
