A 22-year-old youth who had sustained serious injuries in an accident died during treatment, on Tuesday. His bike had rammed into a stationary truck from behind near Samardha, Hoshangabad Road on Sunday evening.

The Misrod police have booked the truck driver for the negligent act while he was yet to be nabbed. According to Misrod police, the deceased was identified as Ankit Sen, a resident of Vidisha. He worked in a factory in Mandideep. Head constable Mahendra Meena said that Sen was heading towards Mandideep from Bhopal on his bike when the incident occurred at around 7:15 pm. The driver had parked the truck roadside but the rear lights of the vehicle were off, due to which Sen could not notice it. Also the street lights were not working, said the cop. He said Sen hit the truck from behind after which the onlookers informed police.

The victim was sent to hospital where he died during treatment on Tuesday. The body was sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered, said the cop. He said the errant driver is on the run and a hunt is on for him.
