A woman belonging to village Sangrampur in District Sehore died just after giving birth to a baby girl at Sehore District Hospital. Relatives of the deceased blamed the duty doctor for negligence. Distraught by the death of the woman, the relatives created a ruckus. Later, the police and the administration somehow pacified the matter by assuring that an inquiry would be conducted.
According to the information, Rohit Suryavanshi, a resident of Sangrampur village under the jurisdiction of Mandi police station area, had admitted his wife Ranu Suryavanshi, 22, to the maternity ward of the district hospital on Wednesday night. According to the family members, the woman was already being treated by Dr Nidhi Agarwal. On Thursday morning, Dr Agarwal called the woman’s husband Rohit and said that delivery will have to be done through operation, otherwise the child and the mother may die. After the operation, mother and child will be completely safe. Hearing this, Rohit gave his consent for the operation. After this the woman was taken to operation theatre. After the operation, the woman gave birth to a healthy girl child, but her health continued to deteriorate and she died on the operation table within a short time.
As soon as the family members came to know about the death of the child, there was no limit to their sorrow and anger. They created a ruckus in the hospital accusing the lady doctor of negligence. He was creating ruckus demanding action against the guilty female doctor.
The body of the pregnant woman was kept in the PM room, but the relatives were adamant on getting the post-mortem done only after taking action on the female doctor. As soon as the police station in-charge Nalin Budholia got information about the uproar, he reached the spot and tried to pacify the family members. Later, Civil Surgeon incharge Dr R K Verma, RMO Dr Naveen Mehar also reached there and the process of persuasion continued.
After this, SDM Aman Mishra also reached the spot and discussed with the family members and assured them to investigate the matter and take appropriate action after the investigation.
Apart from this, a check of Rs 50,000 was given to the family members under the scheme of the government. Then somewhere the family members calmed down and left for the village after conducting the post-mortem of the dead body by a panel of four doctors. We have formed an inquiry committee in view of the allegations of the family members. After investigation, if the lady doctor is found guilty, action will be taken against her, said Dr R K Verma, incharge Civil Surgeon.
