The general body meeting was held in Bhilai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday, where all the proposals were unanimously passed in just two hours. Bhilai Mayor Neeraj Pal started reading the resolutions one by one and all the resolutions were passed on the basis of majority. Earlier, as soon as the meeting started on Friday morning, the corporators for opposition bench started creating ruckus on diarrhoea outbreak.
BJP corporators Piyush Mishra, Rikesh Sen, P Shyam Sundar Rao, Daya Singh and others demanded the Mayor’s answer on the diarrhoea outbreak across city. In reply, Mayor Pal asked to discuss the issues of the general assembly and talked about diarrhoea at the end. Later, the discussion on the proposals started and in the next two hours all the proposals were passed on the basis of majority. The corporators of opposition bench were only seen shouting and creating ruckus.
BJP corporators objected to the proposal to name Power House located Fish Market as Ghaffar Khan Fish Market.
BJP councilor Bhojraj Sinha objected to the name of Ghaffar Khan and demanded to name the market after martyr Vishram Manjhi.
Meanwhile, there was a lot of uproar among ward corporators. Finally, Mayor Neeraj Pal passed this proposal on the basis of majority. The fish market located at Power House will now be named Ghaffar Khan Fish Market. Approval has been given in the general assembly to construct a cemented road from Gaurav Path to Azad Chowk in Ramnagar Muktidham Ward. Besides, it has also been agreed to name one part of the park built in the sector as Mini Mata Udyan and the other part after Shaheed Amit Nayak. There was a lot of uproar in the general meeting regarding the sanitary system of the city. In the meantime, BMC Speaker, Giriwar Sahu Bunty politely listened to ward corporators from both ruling and opposition bench and seen urging to them to put forth views in a diplomatic manner. There was a heated debate between BJP councilor Piyush Mishra and health in-charge Lakshmiprati Raju regarding the sanitary measures and the contract system for cleaning work. In reply, Health in-charge Lakshmipathy Raju gave details of the work being done for the cleanliness of the city.
However, the BJP corporators were not satisfied with this and there was a long debate in the house on the issue of cleanliness. Meanwhile, the women corporators of Congress also reacted in a heated way and answered the questions raised by of the corporators of opposition bench.
